Symposium: the Future Imaginary
Thursday, November 30 to Saturday, December 2
The WAG is excited to be hosting the third annual international Symposium on the Future Imaginary. The Future Imaginary: Radically Shifting Our Indigenous Futures Through Art, Scholarship and Technology will be three days of free multidisciplinary conversations about Indigenous art and media, scholarship, and cultural innovation with panel discussions, film and new media screenings, an Indigenous video game arcade, virtual reality (VR) stations, and makerspace activities! A critical mass of artists, community activists, curators, and academics will present their visions of the future of Indigenous people with First Nations poet and educator Duke Redbird as the keynote speaker. Invited speakers are coming to Winnipeg from all over the world, including several artists featured in the INSURGENCE/RESURGENCE exhibition.
